La Grande Dame 2015 blend is made mainly from grapes from historical Grands Crus vineyards, among the most prestigious in Champagne. Pinot Noir dominates the blend at 90%, magnified by 10% Chardonnay, with grapes from A, Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy. The 10% Chardonnay comes from the Grands Crus Avize and Mesnil-sur-Oger.

“This graceful Champagne offers hints of smoke and toasted brioche that transition to patisserie apple and blackberry fruit, candied ginger and mandarin orange peel notes. • Vineyard notes: “The modern day Maison of Veuve Clicquot possesses one of the finest champagne vineyards, both in terms of its size and the quality of its vines. Its 390 hectares are divided between 12 of the 17 Grands Crus, and between 20 of the 44 Premiers Crus that constitute the entire Champagne region. This exceptional heritage was built up over the centuries, founded upon the parcels first established by the founder, and added to by subsequent vineyard directors. In particular, Veuve Clicquot bears the fortuitous territorial mark of Madame Clicquot.”

• The name La Grande Dame was inspired by Madame Clicquot’s nickname: “La Grande Dame de la Champagne.” La Grande Dame 2015 is the 24th vintage since 1972, when Veuve Clicquot launched its first prestige cuve to celebrate the House’s bicentenary.
