Chateau Tronquoy Lalande Saint Estephe Rouge 2014
Deep ruby in color, very much holding its intensity at 8 years old. This is classic St Estphe, there is punch and depth to the black fruits, and acidities are fresher than you would find in neighbor appellations such as Pauillac, with everything well held together, cassis, blackberry, lashings of black pepper and cocoa bean spice, open and ready to drink but still with structure and life ahead.
Critical Acclaim

Another big, dark St.-Estphe, but in spite of the rich body and some perceptible alcohol, there is also a cool, minty note. Slightly sweet finish in spite of all the tannins. The spice comes through at the end.
93 Wine Enthusiast
Fruit-forward, this wine shows ripe blackberries and dark plums on the palate. It exudes a richness that is contrasted by intense acidity and lifted fruit flavors.

Just as expressive from the bottle as it was from the barrel, the 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande is superb. Black cherry, plum, gravel, smoke, savory herbs, licorice and expressive floral notes abound in a rich, deeply textured Saint-Estphe that will drink well with minimal cellaring. The plush, textured finish only adds to the wine’s considerable appeal. Drink this pliant, expressive Saint-Estphe over the next 15-20 years or more. This is a stellar showing. The blend is 56 % Merlot, 37 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 % Petit Verdot and 1 % Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.

From the owners of Chteau Montrose, the 2014 Tronquoy Lalande is a beautifully ripe, pure, nicely concentrated, and classic wine from this estate that literally screams Saint-Estphe in its dark currant and cassis fruits and notes of damp earth, tobacco, and underbrush. With a medium-bodied, reserved feel on the palate, it certainly has the 2014 vintages elegant, balanced style, as well as nicely integrated acidity and polished tannin. It doesnt have the wow factor of 2015 and 2016 but is a beautiful wine nonetheless that should blossom within 3-4 years of bottle age and keep for a decade or more.

A pure, racy version, with an iron-edged frame that keeps the red currant and damson plum fruit very focused. Mouthwatering tobacco and wet pebble accents are inlaid on the pleasantly austere finish. Well done.
