As is typical for Bedrock, this wine has the structure to match its dark red fruits, spice, and orange-tinged perfume. Composed of Zinfandel, Carignan, Mataro, and 27+ other varieties interplanted on the ranch, the wine was aged in a combination of larger format puncheons, demi-muids, and 228-liter barrels of French and Austrian oak.

The 2020 Bedrock Heritage Wine is a powerful, tannic wine. That’s pretty typical for young wines on this site. Time in the glass brings out hints of red fruit, iron, blood orange, white pepper, chalk, and earthiness. The raw elements are present, but 2020 is not fully put together just yet. The 2020 needs time, but I expect it will always retain a feeling of austerity. Bet after 2022.
