This is Hanne Schusters entry-level white cuve, which is made with such effort and consideration that it would qualify it as a full-blown top cuve. The vineyard selection from Schtzen am Gebirge, Oslip and Sankt Margarethen consists of 60% Grner Veltliner from vines up to 53 years old and 40% mixed set (Welschriesling, Furmint, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay). The grapes are harvested by hand, fermented spontaneously and then aged for 9 months: 65% in steel tanks and 35% in large used wooden barrels. The thoroughly harmonious and sophisticated wine is full-bodied and juicy, with delicately smoky aromas, powerful and yet not carried by fruit, but by spice and minerality.
