No matter how often you try Philipp Wittmann’s wines, the Riesling Aulerde is always a perfect introduction to the Groe Gewchs series, it perfectly combines charming fruit and a fine mineral structure. As is often the case, the 2018 Aulerde is Philipp Wittmann’s most open and present wine, but despite the ripe year it comes out of the glass rather cool and delicate, some Granny Smith and lychee, with a touch of herbs and melon, remains relatively subtle and fine.
