Kilchoman Am Burach
Kilchoman’s Am Brach was the tasty result of a little accident at the distillery – an unnamed Stillman mixed together some Machir Bay and Port Matured Kilchoman while vatting casks! Dubbed Am Brach (“the mess” in Gaelic) by Kilchoman General Manager Islay Heads, the whisky was filled back into Bourbon barrels and eventually given a finishing period in ruby port casks. Though its maturation history may be a bit all over the shop, the whisky itself is marvelous indeed! Plenty of classic tuck shop sweeties and fresh fruit notes, paired with a good helping of grassy, earthy smoke. Fab stuff.
Honeycomb, red apples, smoky turf earthiness, summer berry tart with extra thick double cream. Lemon bon-bons and red licorice, savory basil and roasted barley, cassia and black pepper. Just a whiff of coastal air on the finish, with continued red berry brightness.
