1993 Opus One
The essence of time is expressed in Opus One by the character of each vintage. Place, often defined as terroir, represents the geography, the climate and the essential human element which is captured in the wines balance between power and finesse, structure and texture.
Critical Acclaim
93 Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Deep garnet-brick color. Fragrant aromas of dried cranberries, prunes, cinnamon and cumin give way to subtler earthy notes of leather and tar. A lot of discernable fruit remains on the palate framed by crisp acidity and a medium level of grainy tannins. Very long, layered finish.
92 Wine Spectator
Aromatically complex, with enticing floral, perfumed fruit and spice, cedar and cigar box scents. Delivers a rich, complex core of earthy currant, mocha, exotic spice and fresh leather flavors. Tannins are well-integrated, with a long, vibrant, pleasantly earthy aftertaste.
90 Vinous
The 1993 Opus One is a wine of pure impact. The fruit is front and center in this bold, juicy Cabernet Sauvignon. Slight elements of brett detract from the wine’s balance, but 1993 has enough depth to drink well for at least another decade, if not considerably longer.
