Samos Ouzo Giokarinis 80pf
In 1910, Heleni Giokarini founded the first ouzo distillery in Samos, producing a brand of ouzo known as “Widow’s Ouzo.” This ouzo has been produced by the Giokarini family for three generations, using pure local ingredients that are distilled in a traditional copper still.
Samos is a famous historical Greek island in the eastern Aegean Sea, just a mile off the western coast of Turkey. The sweet, rich wines made here from Moschato Aspro (aka Muscat Blanc Petits Grains) are among Greece’s most famous and are exported around the world.
Ouzo is a dry anise-flavored brandy spirit produced throughout Greece and Cyprus. In northern Greece ouzo is typically dry whilst ouzo in the south of the country may be mildly sweetened with sugar. Ouzo is comparable to several other anise-based spirits such as Raki from Turkey, Pastis from France and Sambuca from Italy. However, production methods vary.
