Weingut Gantenbein Pinot Noir 2022
The Gantenbeins have their winery in Flsch, a small village in the Bndner Herrschaft. There are no signposts to the winery, but they dont need any: firstly, they dont welcome visitors, secondly, the Gantenbeins hardly ever accept new customers, and thirdly, the wines are always sold out either way. Martha and Daniel Gantenbein have been producing their wines in the Bndner Herrschaft region with great passion, ambition and success since 1982. Burgundy clones were planted. The operation has been continuously improved, so today the grapes and juice flow by gravity, without pumping or filtering. Only around 4.5 hectares and thus the largest part of the vineyard are planted with Pinot Noir. On 1.5 hectares are planted with Chardonnay and even fewer with Riesling. The highest quality standards also mean that the Gantenbein winery has rather low harvest yields. Annual production is only around 25,000-30,000 bottles across all 3 grape varieties. For comparison 99% of the premier grand cru in Bordeaux produce a multiple of the number of bottles. The tasting note for the Gantenbein Pinot Noir 2022 reads as follows The Pinot Noir 2022 offers an intriguing, deep, pure, spicy and flinty, quite ethereal bouquet of dark berries and sour cherries.

The 2022 Pinot Noir offers a fascinating, deep, pure, savory and flinty, quite ethereal bouquet of dark berries and Morello cherries. Remarkably pure yet intense on the palate, this is a dense, lush and spicy Pinot with fine tannins and a beautiful tartness and bitterness on the finish. This elegant, beautifully airy and finessed Pinot has great intensity and even more purity. There is a bridge to both the 2022 Chardonnay and even the 2022 Riesling. Tasted at the domaine in March 2024.
